Pledge Allegiance
I pledge allegiance to the fear that runs things in America and to the television for which it stands one nation hypnotized distortion, and monotonous repetition for all I pledge allegiance to the flag of the blood-stained history of America and to the corporations for which it stands one nation under cover the poor-invisible silent, incarcerated, and stoned I pledge allegiance to the flag Of the school of the Americas And to the dictators for which it stands Killing at will across the lands A planet safe for hypocrisy, oops I mean democracy Land of the white supremecy If you’re rich you’re free With nine millimeter liberty And forties, blunts and TV To keep us on our knees As long as we don’t have to see you, you can be what you want to be As long a we don’t have to see you, you can be what you want to be With fear, incarceration, and oblivion for all I pledge allegiance to NBC, CBS, fox news and ABC And to the blood they make sure we see Night after night until our eyes bleed And our hearts become cold with fear Woody Guthrie called people hope machines But we are becoming fear machines We are fear machines They’re making us fear machines We used to be hope machines We can still be hope machines
