Lyrics

Parking Lot Jesus

I saw Jesus today, begging in a parking lot
I gave him my spare change and a smile
he said son I've been out here begging for three days now
and no one's given me a kind word all the while.
but when I hung on that cross at Calvary
I had my mother and Mary Magdalene to comfort me
but here in this parking lot I feel so all alone
that the cross just feels like an old, dead tree

I need love just the same as anyone
I need someone to love me
I need someone to touch when I'm feeling sad
I need someone to touch me

he said I know I'm not so popular anymore
most people don't believe in me
but what if I was your father or your brother out here begging?
you'd take me in and take care of me
I'm not asking for the shirt off your back
and I'm not claiming we're all one big happy family
all I'm saying is you could be in my shoes
remember that when you see someone like me

I need love just the same as anyone
I need someone to love me
I need someone to touch when I'm feeling sad
I need someone to touch me
