Last Look
I started off at dawn with my whole world on my back some change in my pocket, extra socks in my pack I left so early so my old man wouldn't know made it to the interstate through the ice and snow I tried to hitch but no one would stop so I trod on in silence as the snow filled my shoes it's hard out here, I could die from this cold but anything is better than the place that I called home maybe I'll make it on down to kentucky maybe I'll wind up in some town by the highway flipping burgers or maybe pumping gas I hope this look I'm taking at this town will be my last taking my last look I picked a town at random, one finger on a map a name as good as any, and I started down the track when no one knows your name you can be what you want save enough for a Greyhound, then I'm gone sometimes survival is the best you're gonna get you can shoot for something better, strive and place your bets but in the end when you're race has been run it's happiness that matters, not the things you have owned maybe I'll make it on down to kentucky maybe I'll wind up in some town by the highway flipping burgers or maybe pumping gas I hope this look I'm taking at this town will be my last taking my last look
