Poetry

The First Page

We're strapping on our parachutes
leaving no last will and testament
though the fall could be deadly
eyes closed
hearts wide open
the first page
pure as infants
terrifying as angels
we cannot look away
though our eyes burn with the glow
left with black holes
never to be filled
how can we jump?
fleeting butterflies
their wings torn by the slightest breeze
fly better than we
yet we fall smiling
cattle to slaughter
innocent
