I try to always be grateful for this job of being a songwriter, musician, and artist. But sometimes people can tweak your last nerve and sometimes people act as if this is not work. I would never tell anyone their job is not work, but they tell me my job is not work all the time. Almost every day someone tells me that or at least implies it. I'm playing at Circle of Song at the Clearwater Festival next weekend, which is a volunteer gig, a donation of my time to Clearwater. Circle of Song doesn't do much to promote my music or sell CD's, but it is a good thing to do for the community. I lose a whole weekend of possible paying gigs because they don't tell us what day we are scheduled at the festival until a few weeks before it, so it is too late to book any shows. This year if I want to go hang out at the fest on my off day I am told I have to buy a ticket. No good deed goes unpunished... In this case I guess it is my own fault because I volunteered.
